The Old Prison Market
The idea of using this old prison as "the House of Culture of Pernambuco," using the cells as individual market shops, sounded like a great program. It gave a purpose to keeping the 100-year-plus structure for use into the future. Now, I have no idea how many people actually go there to shop, spend money, and support those who have shops there. I had no need to buy anything nor interest in looking at the loads of what seemed like the same clothing & fabric items in all the shops. But the main interest for me was to see the structure and what THAT was like. The negative was, like in most public places, it's 80° out and the facility isn't air conditioned. Not being used to that heat, it wears a person down real fast.
